Allegro ma non troppo – Vivid Nature

Ursula Hierholzer at RED DOT Miami 2012

Red Dot Miami is one of the most successful art fairs which will be opened on 4th December concurrently with Art Basel Miami Beach. Up to 70 national and international galleries showing contemporary art from the fields of photography, painting and sculpture in a luxury tent at 60,000  square meters. This year there will be solo sections on display for the first time: 75 solo projects with small booths for individual art projects.

The art fair is representing upcoming galleries and artists from the U.S., Europe and emerging countries. As the year before, RED DOT Miami lodges again in the Wynwood Art District, in distinguished neighbourhood close to Art Miami, Scope and Art Asia.

The artist Ursula Hierholzer looks expectantly to America, telling us her point of view: "I am delighted that the EUART Gallery presents my work on the RED DOT Miami. There are five large canvases in acrylic at the show, which significantly are influenced by nature, therefore light and color play an important role. By choosing the colors and the light, semi-transparent brush stroke a lively, bright landscape evokes. Similar to me, when I create these paintings in a joyful and openminded mood, I wish that also the viewer can experience nature in my paintings."

Ursula Hierholzer, who lives in Münster (Germany), studied Fine Art and German and was working and teaching for many years. Since 2005 she develops herself as a freelance artist, exhibiting her artworks in galleries and art fairs worldwide. In her childhood she was influenced artistically by her father, who was a painter and illustrator, later by her lecturers Luca Lazar at the European Art Academy in Trier and by Prof. Dr. h.c. Markus Lüpertz, in his master class at the Art Academy in Bad Honnef.

If you regard the paintings of Ursula Hierholzer precisely, you can consider special areas of color that are the signature of her script set as notes of a scale rhythmically. To give a reason: Ursula Hierholzer often paints while listening to classical music. Compositions are formed by cheerful serenity reflecting a sunny mood. Support and guidance are given by plants, sources, water and stones, outlined with light stroke, which organize the screen layout horizontally and vertically. Through this structured as well as open and process-related image form, she manages to expand painting style and technique experimentally.

The arrangement of the shapes goes hand in hand with that of the colors. More important is the spiritual value of the colors: sometimes warm lilac and berry tones correspond with sky blue and pistachio, other times with vibrant blue, green and orange colors. Their density gives the impression that the experiences are layered upon each other. This is how the overlapping, the blurring and highlightning can be seen as archeological layers of our memory.
